YapZapp

Beam Up Your Thoughts

Talk all day into a pocket recorder. YapZapp beams it up — and lifts out the gold.

The idea

A creativity instrument, not a productivity app

Your best material doesn't arrive at a desk. It shows up on walks, in the car, mid-conversation — and dies in a notes app you never open again.

YapZapp is built around a dedicated hardware voice recorder instead of your phone: one button, no screen, no feed waiting to eat your attention. Say the thing the moment it exists. The machine does the remembering.

How it works

Yap. Beam. Zap.

1

Yap — capture

Carry the recorder all day. Bark every joke, idea, and half-thought into it the second it arrives. No app to open, nothing to type.

2

Beam — ingest

Plug it in. Every clip is repaired, archived, and transcribed — the audio is committed to the library before transcription ever runs, so a thought is never lost.

3

Zap — extract

An AI editor reads every transcript and lifts the gold into a browsable stream — the raw words stay untouched underneath.

The stream

Four kinds of gold

Every fragment is typed, tagged, and traceable back to the exact yap it came from.

Joke
The bit you made up in the car and would have forgotten by the next red light.
Material for the stage, the group chat, the script.
Idea
The project, the song, the business — captured at full enthusiasm, not reconstructed at half.
Seeds worth planting later.
Insight
The thing you finally understood about yourself on that long walk.
The stuff journals are supposed to catch.
Practical
Call the landlord. The part number. What she actually said.
Real life, handled.
Under the hood

Built to never lose a thought

  • Capture-first pipeline — audio is copied and committed to a local library before any processing runs; transcription can fail without losing a clip.
  • Source of truth you can hold — everything lands in local SQLite; raw transcripts are never altered, and every extracted fragment is a derived view on top.
  • Self-healing ingest — hardware recorders write broken WAV headers; the pipeline repairs and normalizes every file automatically.
  • Idempotent by design — every stage can be re-run safely; bump the prompt version and the whole library re-processes without duplication.
